BACKGROUND
On July 12, 2016, the City Council approved Resolution No. 6981 establishing the Utilities Manager Position.
On November 14, 2023, in anticipation of the Utilities Manager's retirement scheduled for December 31, 2023, the City Council amended the job description for the Utilities Manager Position.
The City has advertised for the Utilities Manager recruitment since January 2024 but has yet to secure candidates that meet the qualifications to move forward to the interview process.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION
In March 2024, the Human Resources department conducted a survey of comparable cities and positions to review the salary for potential adjustment. The analysis is included as Attachment 1 to the staff report in addition to the recommended new salary range of $10,195 - $13,663 monthly, included as Attachment 2.
City Staff is looking for feedback and a recommendation from the Water Sub Committee on whether to increase the salary and class specification for the Utility Manager position based on the difficulty in recruiting for the position.
