Request City Council to Receive and File the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Annual Budget.

BACKGROUND

In 1984 The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program to encourage and assist state and local governments in preparing budget documents of the highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting. Individual governments that achieve this goal are recognized.

 

ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION

May 26, 2022, the City of Rialto fiscal year 2022-2023 Annual Budget was approved and adopted. On August 9, 2022, the adopted City of Rialto fiscal year 2022-2023 annual budget was submitted to GFOA in the hopes of receiving the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

 

September 14, 2022, the City of Rialto’s Finance department was awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the approved fiscal year 2022-2023 annual budget. Attached is the notification of award packet.  

 

 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

This action is exempt from California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15378(b)(5) of the CEQA Guidelines because the preparation of a budget plan is a governmental administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in the environment.

General Plan Guiding Principle 3 - Rialto’s Economic Environment is Healthy and Diverse - specifically our City Government will lead by example, and will operate in an open, transparent, and responsive manner that meets the needs of the citizens is a good place to do business
