...Body

BACKGROUND

On April 23, 2024, the City Council approved the contract with Public Restroom Company for the amount of $1,298,364 for the design and construction of a prefabricated Community Building for the Rialto Habitat Nature Center (RHNC). The proposed RHNC Community Building will be approximately 1,475 square-feet, and include men’s and women’s restrooms, office space, a storage room, and a community room per the attached floorplan. Prior to releasing Public Restroom Company in final design, the City needs to review and accept the building features, room areas, colors, and textiles.

ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION

On September 12, 2024, staff met with Public Works and Parks, Recreation, and Community Services to finalize the selection and features for the RHNC Community Building. Feedback received indicated that staff would like to maintain the city’s current Building standards, similar to the Community Building at Frisbie Park.

One new feature that staff would like feedback on is adding solar tubes to the prefabricated building. Solar tubes will bring more natural light into the community space. If accepted, this feature will be added to the community space to help maximize natural light.
