Monthly Activity Report for City of Rialto Waste Management Services

BACKGROUND:

The City of Rialto Municipal Code Chapter 2.24 establishes and defines the Rialto Cable Advisory and Utilities Commission. The responsibilities assigned to the Commission include acting “as an advisor to the City Council and City Administration regarding solid waste policies, recycling, source reduction, and other related state mandates.”  This report provides general information to the Commission on the activities and events for the Maintenance and Facilities Department’s Waste Management Division.

 

ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:

Items relating to the City’s Solid Waste Management services and of interest to the Commission are as follows:

 

                     Hazardous Household Waste -

 

During the month of October:

 

o                     383 residents served,

o                     665 gallons of used motor oil,

o                     14 pallets of paint,

o                     17 drums of miscellaneous poisons and other toxic liquids,

o                     9 barrels of sharps, including needles, lancets, and syringes used by residents

     for their home healthcare and medical needs

 

During the month of November, the Household Hazardous Waste site was open on the 7th and 8th and will be open again on the 21st and 22nd from 8 am until 12 noon.

 

During the month of November:

 

o                     82 residents served,

o                     205 gallons of used motor oil,

o                     4 pallets of paint,

o                     4 drums of miscellaneous poisons and other toxic liquids,

o                     4 barrels of sharps, including needles, lancets, and syringes used by residents

     for their home healthcare and medical needs

 

During the month of December, the Household Hazardous Waste site was open on the 4th and 5th and will be open again on the 18th and 19th from 8 am until 12 noon.

 

 

                     Community Clean-up Day - October 25, 2025

Used Tire Collection = 413

Electronic Waste Drop-off = 10,563 lbs.

Personal Document Shredding = 15,870 lbs.

Salvation Army Donation Drop-off = 1 truck load

Trash = 60.11 tons

Green Waste = 8.7 tons

Metal = 4.08 tons

Inert = 7.29

 

 

                     Burrtec Waste Tonnage Report - Available tonnage reports will be distributed at the meeting.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the Utilities Commission receive this report for the month of December, 2025.
