RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council (1) Ratify the grant application submitted to the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) for the Million Coaches Challenge; (2) Accept the grant award from NRPA in the amount of $2,500; (3) Adopt the Resolution amending the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Budget to reflect the grant funds; and (4) Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all necessary documents related to the grant.
BACKGROUND
The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) launched the Million Coaches Challenge to enhance youth sports programs by providing training and resources to coaches nationwide. The City of Rialto submitted an application to secure funding to support coach education, improve youth sports programming, and align with best practices in coaching.
The City was notified of the grant award in the amount of $2,500. These funds will be used to provide training, certifications, and resources for volunteer and staff coaches involved in city-run youth sports programs.
There is no grant-match associated with the grant funds or training.
