RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council:
1) Approve the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) Traffic Records Improvement Project Grant Agreement in the amount of $19,800;
2) Adopt a Resolution amending the 2025-2026 fiscal year budget, and
3) Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents.
BACKGROUND
The California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) has awarded the City of Rialto Police Department $19,800 through the Traffic Records Improvement Project (TRIP) Grant.
For the past several years, the City has pursued and been awarded various grants from OTS to help augment its traffic safety efforts. In recent years, the City Council has dedicated increased funding for staffing to support the Police Department's efforts in improving the safety of the motoring public. The department currently utilizes electronic citations, which have shown an increase in efficiency, accuracy, and easier access for analysis. The grant funding will further the Department's ability to improve the timeliness and accessibility of analytical data and allow for interface into RMS systems.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION
The OTS grant allocates funding to support investments in hardware and software that enhance data reporting, management, and analysis of crash trends and enforcement outcomes.
There are no matching funds required for this grant. If this grant is accepted, the City will be reimbursed for all grant-related law enforcement overtime activities, training, approved project supplies, ...
