RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council Approve 1) A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Willow Village Apartment Complex for Mobile Recreation programming, establishing a one-year term with the option to extend for up to five additional one-year terms; and 2) Authorization for the City Manager or their designee to execute all necessary documents to implement the agreement.
BACKGROUND
The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department successfully completed its first year of Mobile Recreation programming, providing accessible recreational opportunities to residents in underserved communities. In an effort to continue this service, the department seeks to renew its partnership with Willow Village Apartment Complex by entering into a new one-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the option to extend for up to five additional one-year terms.
The Mobile Recreation program was established to bring free recreational activities to residents facing transportation barriers that limit their ability to access traditional parks and recreation facilities. Funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program so that the department could purchase a trailer and materials and supplies to essentially create a community center on wheels so that we can services to those who cannot easily get to our facilities.
