Item 2 - RUA Budget
* What was the $6,000 for Fines, Forfeits and Penalties based on? Who are we going to charging these fines to?
o This amount is revenue from interest charged by San Bernardino County, but payable to RUA.
* This amount is for late property tax payments for RWS customers who did not pay their sewer bills timely to RWS and had the amount they owed placed on the "Tax Roll."
* Once on the "Tax Roll," they also failed to pay the tax bill timely and were charged interest.
* The amount is a conservative estimate based on historical amounts collected.
* Why was this not budgeted in the past?
o We are not able to answer why this wasn't budgeted for in the past; however, we elected to include it this year as part of our efforts to increase transparency and accuracy.
* What, other than late fees, are there?
o Customers may also be charged a "NSF" or Insufficient Funds charge if the check written for payment does not clear the bank.
* What is "Use of Money" income?
o The "Use of Money" income is made up of two revenue sources:
* Rental Income, mostly cell phone companies for towers
* Investment income or Interest
* Why a decrease of income on the wastewater side? What are we basing this on?
o When estimating the Fiscal Year 2019/2020 budget, we reviewed the actual income received during Fiscal Year 2018/2019 and projected the amount for the new budget.
