Request City Council to 1) Award a Construction Contract to PTM General Engineering Services, Inc., a California corporation, in the amount of $466,066 for Ayala Drive and Fitzgerald Avenue Traffic Signal and Lighting Improvement Project, City Project No. 190810; and (2) Authorize the City Manager to Execute all Documents.

BACKGROUND:
The intersection of Ayala Drive and Fitzgerald Avenue currently operates as a non-signalized intersection. The four (4) roadways approaching the intersection curve to the right before reaching the intersection. Vehicles approaching the intersection from Fitzgerald Avenue must first stop upon reaching Ayala Drive, then are expected to proceed into the intersection when it is safe to do so. The majority of the traffic is on Ayala Drive where vehicle speeds are noticeably high.
The goal of the Ayala Drive and Fitzgerald Avenue Traffic Signal Project is to install traffic signalization and street lighting improvements to increase safety of pedestrians and motorists travelling through the area. The final design was verified to be in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), providing pedestrian access and connectivity to and from the Renaissance Marketplace shopping center, Jerry Eaves Park, the 210 Freeway and adjacent areas.
On August 11, 2020, the City adopted the Fiscal Year 2020/2021 Budget and Capital Improvement Project List which included the Fitzgerald Avenue Traffic Signal and Lighting Improvement Project, City Project No. 190810 (the "Project").
On February 22, 2022, the City Council approved the plans and authorized bidding of the Project.
